I’m directing/producing a series of films for the luxury watch company Vacheron Constantin.
May has me back to a revision on the DEEP FAKE script, as well as approaching completion on an elaborate music video for my music project, Unpinnable Butterflies.
The multi-month behemoth is complete, including a full flash mob orchestral scene and an elaborate cold open (with music, as well as graphics and editing, by yours truly). This was an amazing project to stress and grow as a producer, and I’m quite grateful to the good folks at TC for the opportunity.
February begins a three-month mega-project for Columbia University’s Teachers College. I’m producing/directing/DP-ing/editing an over hour-long convocation ceremony for the college, which is not meeting in person. We’ll be making musical numbers, soup-to-nuts, composing original music, making animations and graphic packages, and including featured marquee guests like Stacey Abrams and Wynton Marsalis.
Editing continues apace on the commodious affair that is the Christmas Jam, featuring Warren Haynes (of Gov’t Mule) and friends, including Dave Grohl, Jim James, Grace Potter, and many more.
This unprecedented, tenebrous years ends (on the personal/artistic front) in every way different than the last but one: I am back to the DEEP FAKE script, closing in on its third iteration. Much movement in the feature arena planned in 2021.
Worth enjoying 7 SPLINTERS IN TIME dubbed into Russian. Perhaps it was the film’s proper language all along?
Much of November-December 2020 is spent producing/directing/editing/scoring a series of broadcasts for Columbia Teachers College. I write an original jazz piece employing the dexterous facilities of drummer Tim Keiper and saxophonist Geoff Countryman, which accompanies an elaborate graphics piece. There are animations (creating by the polymath Rita Mansinho) and a gallimaufry of live performances (shot by the equally multifariously talented Jared Watson).
Honored to be cutting a collage-style live performance featuring Ben Harper and Jack Johnson for Thundergong (a Jason Sudeikis-hosted virtual benefit). You can watch it here (at 34.30).
So proud of this music cue I composed and recorded for Hedley & Bennett. What a lovely brand (we have their aprons and masks) & story. Guess the meter. directed by Shayan Asgharnia.
