4 boroughs in a day

July 28th, 2015

With @DJodocy we make a steady peregrination through four of the five boroughs, capturing b-roll of backroads for GANGSTERS, discussing Jodorowsky, Mexico, and the inconsistent velocity of time.

FROM BAGHDAD TO BROOKLYN score delivered

July 21st, 2015

After 317.25 hours of labor, I proudly deliver over 56 minutes of music for the Netflix doc FROM BAGHDAD TO BROOKLYN. Look for it in the fall of 2015.

All day long it rained on my friends

July 15th, 2015

Shooting something for CBS on the Jersey shore during a thunderstorm. It’s always a revelation to be out of the city, and people are happy here, despite the climes. It’s not Bela Tarr, but this still rivals any office job.

Work and play

July 4th, 2015

Shooting a music video for Montgomery Streets for director Tim Chaffee, at his Gowanus 4th of July roof  party. ‘Tim, what is the capacity for humans on your roof?’ ‘Funny you should ask, Gabe. I didn’t look into that. We shouldn’t have more than 40-50 at a time, methinks.’ There were 200 potomaniacal humans. All survived, miraculously.

12-unit day

Lighting tv show for Bravo, after receiving this rather Baroque lighting chart at 10am the night before.

Coked-up day

June 13th, 2015

Some days entail waking at 4:15am, hopping a flight to Charlotte, NC, lighting an interview in a hotel room (which is sheltering you from the torrid sun ricocheting off a TRUMANSHOW-esque enclave of the city near the airport populated by ticky-tacky pastel homes and chain stores), waiting for a released ex-con kingpin cocaine dealer to arrive, finding, upon his arrival, that he is genteel, urbane, and the sort of fellow you’d gladly invite over for dinner, then grabbing a shrimp cocktail (which you instantly regret ordering) with the lovely and prodigious Mark Monroe, hopping a car back to CLT with a Ghanaian cabby who summarily discusses the travails of his three children with you while Salif Keïta (Malian, not Ghanaian) pulses on the speakers, flying back to New York while editing THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WHATSOEVER, discussing OMPHALOS with DP George Nicholas in the cab from JFK to Brooklyn, and finally, blessedly, going to sleep.

Atlanta: GANGSTERS and horror films

May 27th, 2015

In Atlanta, Georgia shooting more GANGSTERS with Mark Monroe. We bank exterior  b-roll of abandoned cocaine storage houses and clubs where altercations/killings transpired. Mark takes me to the best places. As an added perk, I pay a visit to dear friend Aidan Fraser on the set of RINGS, where Aidan is the VFX supervisor.

Pleased to share these new stills from a shoot in Ojai with legendary chanteuse Perla Batalla. Field and sea shell.

May 18th, 2015

From Rockaway Beach to Astoria to the South Bronx, we cover ground and disinter old pockets of nefariousness.
