OMPHALOS prepares

January 8th, 2018

Back in the pullulation of OMPHALOS work as we prepare for big announcements in early 2018: trailer re-cut, poster designs, discussions with colorist, emails to cast and crew. Stay tuned.

Felicitous ending to a year of slow advances

December 20th, 2017

We are designing a poster for OMPHALOS in anticipation of being able to soon semaphore dual bouts of good news. Enough to say the film will be seen, and perhaps modestly celebrated, in 2018. A felicitous ending to a year of slow and assiduous advances.

Wanted men

December 13th, 2017

How about four trips to Florida in 2017 for shoots? West Palm Beach is my last: a scurried affair, meeting, quite literally, a wanted man in an airport hotel during a 24-hour escapade. I continue to be unable to say more.

The abstemious 20-teens

December 5th, 2017

Back in New York, shooting a series of interviews in my usual post as factotum of sound, picture, and even make-up. Retired New York cops eat more salad that you might expect. The abstemious 20-teens are no match for the stories of the 1980s.

Philly with Kenzan

November 27th, 2017

In Philadelphia with the inimitable Kenzan Tsutakawa-Chinn, shooting more top secret crime show. We peregrinate through the Philly Badlands, stealing b-roll for Mark Monroe.

OMPHALOS cast and crew screening

November 18th, 2017

A private screening for cast and crew, a festive culmination of a long-chased dream. We are going out to festivals. Hoping to share the film with everyone soon.

Back in Miami

November 14th, 2017

Back in Miami shooting that anonymous show. We eat Cuban food, hang out in a panoply of parking lots, listen to EDM with our loquacious and life-affirming P.A. Julio.

Last chance fixes (films are ‘never finished only abandoned . . .’)

November 8th, 2017

A last pullulation of activity prior to our OMPHALOS cast and crew screening: credit fixes, and a new sound mix with the punctilious Mike Flannery.

3 cities for reasons I can’t name

October 31st, 2017

16 days this month spent on a show whose name I can’t disclose, and whose activities I cannot delineate. I am in New York, DC, and New Orleans. At one point, this and this happens.

Cartoonists and conductors

October 23rd, 2017

A day shooting cartoonists—Art Spiegelman and Kim Deitch—for the accomplished documentarian Susan Stern and her documentary about her late husband, Spain Rodriguez (I am subbing for the incredibly talented Naiti Gamez). That same day, after wrap, I head uptown to Morning Side Heights and join another shoot, for Yamaha, documenting the up-and-coming composer Or Matias.
