After a last-work-week-of-the-year push, sound design nearly complete for OM. January 2017 launches final sound mix. The film is precipitously close to total completion.
A week-long shoot for Yamaha, interviewing some (undisclosed as per NDA) luminaries in the jazz and Broadway world.
OMPHALOS score is finally mixed and mastered with the kind and gifted Mike Flannery at the helm. Grateful for rich week of creative collaboration, and to finally put this commodious opus to bed.
Shooting for the illustrious Alex Coletti and Co., DP-ing the ENG portion of a Christmas special for Tony Hale, with special guests Lisa Loeb and Judah Friedlander. A risible send-off to the ‘worst year ever in human history’ (2016).
Like Zeno’s Paradox, approaching an ending with OM proves elusive, but make no mistake: progress is being made. Crossing the finish line glacially, but crossing it, I check Act 2 pII of the sound design off the list.
Four days shooting with my revered mentor and friend Mike Elliot. We team-up on a project for TBWA-Chiat about SMS pedestrian safety. A long drive to Maryland sustains our circumlocutory talks (children, magic, the elusiveness of narrative in one’s own life and in art, THE LAST WALTZ).
New York is cold / but I like where I’m living / there’s music on Clinton street all through the evening / I hear that you’re building your little house / deep in the desert / you’re living for nothing now / I hope you’re keeping some kind of record
Another demo for new cinema-musical completed, and sharing it seemed apt on election day. Here’s to rebirth, to love, and to the healing of wounds for the country and the planet. In the film, two lovers are trying to finish what they started together—a project of planetary rebirth. One has been mortally wounded, and the other is trying to convince her to go on fighting anyway.
Honored to have DP-ed this piece for MTVNews.com, featuring “So You Think You Can Dance” alum Travis Wall’s magnificent and boundary-shattering choreography. Even prouder to have helped undergird a pro-LGBTQ rights message steps from the bigotry and homophobia of Trump tower. Shot just days before the election.
